Iraq Reviews > Wartime Rhetoric

http://thepowerdecades.blogspot.com [(Pro)Claiming Age] It is easy to think I must have misunderstood the news coverage somewhere along the line, to believe myself confused in thinking the war in Iraq was never supposed to have lasted this long. Can we feel the quagmire developing in Iraq now threatening to repeat the political, economic, and moral horrors of Viet Nam?

This oft misunderstood, this often misinterpreted concept, so readily dismissed by the Nietzsches of the world as a weak and cowardly force, has now become an absolute necessity for the survival of man.

As a young preson, this does not reassure me...we hope the Iraqi situation will get better, we hope the constitution will come out on schedule..maybe this is the best course for the administration, but is it the best course for America?

Bradblog.comhttp://www.bradblog.com [Bradblog.com] THE BRAD BLOG: "Still in Iraq...": And if you really want to help the American war effort, you can join the fucking armed forces and go to Iraq like thousands of others have, and then you can do the best job you can to show them that Americans care about them and want, above all else, for all of our futures to be better and more peaceful than the past, and get paid shit. You will then be my personal hero, really, and I hope you don't get killed or maimed or see or do something that makes you hate everything for the rest of your life, which is a very real possibility.

Scienceblog.comhttp://www.scienceblog.com [Scienceblog.com] Science Blog -- COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS ADOPTS RESOLUTION ON ...: A representative of Malaysia said Malaysia was concerned about the current situation in Iraq.  For this reason, Malaysia had co-sponsored the proposal to convene a special sitting to address the human rights and humanitarian situation in Iraq as a consequence of the war launched by the United States and its allies.  Unfortunately, the Commission had voted to reject the proposal.  The draft resolution L.6 did not reflect the current situation in Iraq arising from the unilateral military action by the United States and its allies and the fact stood that there was no effective or functioning government in the country.  The United States and its allies, as the occupying powers, were responsible under the Geneva Conventions for the maintenance of law and order in Baghdad and other places in Iraq where looting and lawlessness had prevailed since the occupying powers took control.
