[Iraq News and Information] Interesting how short sighted people cannot see any good out of the Iraq war. I’m sure the Kurds and Shiites who no longer have to worry about being gassed to death or having their family members carted off in the middle of the night don’t feel our involvement there was a waste of time.

[Latest News @ Pilots For 9/11 Truth Forum] Dead Soldiers Father To Pay Anit-gay Legal Fees - Pilots For 9/11 ...: The cheap oil is and was always at least last 30 years without a doubt one of the main reason for political violence events and wars and especially only reason for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and now can lead even to the war with Iran, which can trigger the nuclear WWIII. The last event of rising oil price was most probably completely a bubble of futures, but next time it will be probably the peak oil, thanks god if the Obama (I don't like his socialist attitudes and big mouth, but hope he'll succeed with this) really wants to throw the "greens"

[blogfrommiddleeast.com] Iraq snapshot - March 25, 2010: If al Maliki triumphs in a narrow election and assembles a coalition that largely reproduces the outgoing government, many Iraqis may feel that the election was a sham, and that democracy is not capable of producing true change. If al Maliki loses, he may not surrender power without a fight -- and many of his backers may reject the prospect of being ruled by Allawi, who drew so heavily on Sunni votes.

[The Angry Republican] Charlie Wilson's War « The Angry Republican: Wow, i just watched this movie, i thought it was pretty good, and that it has a few moments that stood out for me, the first of course, was that Wilson hates commies, which, nowadays is uncommon to the left, and most embrace communism, and want america to become a communist nation.

[Legal Planet: Environmental Law and Policy] Where Have You Gone, Jimmy Carter? « Legal Planet: Environmental ...: There are many lessons that the Obama administration can learn from Carter’s efforts.  Most significantly, Carter, in the face of oil embargos and gas rationing, was able to seize the moment and focus the attention of Congress on comprehensive legislation.  On a more cautionary level, it did not take people long to forget about those gas lines, weaken implementation of Carter’s innovative policies, and turn a renewable energy program into a coal and gas program.  The Public Utilities Regulatory Policy Act of 1978, which created a program under which utilities had to buy power from small renewable generators, paved the way for the energy act of 1992, which enabled conventional fossil fuel generators to sell directly to utilities and led to the electricity deregulation distraction that is still diverting way too much creative energy that ought to be focused on mitigating climate change.  President Obama and the current Congress need not only to create enlightened energy policy, but also find ways to make it stick.

[Blog for Peace and Freedom] Seven years since the US invasion of Iraq - Blog for Peace and Freedom: This is a theme that has played well with sanctimonious ignoramuses like Thomas Friedman, columnist for the New York Times, who wrote on March 19 that “removing Saddam Hussein and helping Iraq replace his regime with a decent, accountable government that can serve as a model in the Middle East is worth doing””not because Iraq threatens us with its weapons [which Friedman had acknowledged previously was not the case], but because we are threatened by a collection of failing Arab-Muslim states, who churn out way too many young people who feel humiliated, voiceless and left behind.

[The Hook News Blog] Gas party? FBI investigates cut line at Perriello home | The Hook ...: 2ndly, to the people above who said the Dems probably cut this gas line to make the teabaggers look bad…it shows a pathological inability to negatively judge even inarguably bad behavior from your own ranks, and it is why it is actually VERY fair to lump you in with the most violent among you that actually commit this type of behavior. If you won’t very visibly or very vocally condemn this behavior then you silently acquiesce to it and adopt it.

[The Dilbert Blog] The Dilbert Blog: Terrorism or Stupidity?: Israelis on the whole are ready to come to an agreement with the Palestinians that cedes to them the West Bank (historic Judea and Samaria) and a capital in the Arab neighborhoods of Jerusalem - they already have all of Gaza - in exchange for peace, and with relatively minor changes in the Green Line so that as many as possible of the region's Jews are in Israel, and as many as possible of the region's Arabs are in Palestine.
