Iraq Reviews > "Them"

[Past Peak] The punchline to this gag is that the Army (the US one, I mean) selected Charlie Company as the Iraqi unit it most wanted the Washington Post and its readers to get acquainted with. Which either means this is the very best they've got, or, someone in the chain of command deliberately picked one of the worst units in hopes of cutting through the oceans of Bush administration bullshit and showing the American people exactly how desperate the situation is in Iraq ”” and not for the insurgents.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

Billmon[Billmon] Saddam's Song: The punchline to this gag is that the Army (the U.S. one, I mean) selected Charlie Company as the Iraqi unit it most wanted the Washington Post and its readers to get acquainted with. Which either means this is the very best they've got, or, someone in the chain of command deliberately picked one of the worst units in hopes of cutting through the oceans of Bush administration bullshit and showing the American people exactly how desperate the situation is in Iraq -- and not for the insurgents.

[marccooper] Oliver Stone-d: Right now (as it has always been) it is risky for any theater to take on just about any film that isn't a bonified hit (largely because of the cost of prints), but as theaters go digital that cost drops dramatically (digital projectors use DVDs), and it will become much more possible for entrepeneurial filmmakers to get showings of their films and build an audience from the grassroots up (not unlike independent bands and record labels have done over the past twenty years). We could begin to see highly localized film scenes (a Mormon film scene in Utah, a lesbian punk rock film scene in Olympia, Washington, etc), and once you factor in the possibilities of the internet Hollywood could become increasingly less relevant.

Ratcliffeblog.com[Ratcliffeblog.com] RatcliffeBlog””Mitch's Open Notebook: It's not just that we aren't acting on real muck, but that real muck is discouraged as unpatriotic and not simply the kind of sour grapes Mark Felt (who was passed over for FBI Director by Nixon) is being accused of. The link points to a long list of modern Deep Throats, like Richard Clarke, who have called bullshit on the Bush Administration. We should be listening to them and, more importantly, someone with a press or network at their disposal (even bloggers) need to spend the time to report these stories until they are fully documented and their ongoing consequences (Americans and Iraqis killed unnecessarily, for example) are understood.

[Observationdeck.org] Its A Matter Of Opinion » Blog Archive » Just Blame Bush: But if you really didn't figure you would lose your job at that point you didn't have to wait all that long before it was spelled out for you [url= ]http://www.cnh.com/media/detail.asp?id=135459582001] "CNH's consolidation plans also call for the closure of the company's combine plant in East Moline, Illinois, and tractor production facility in Racine, Wisconsin, which are scheduled for no later than 2004". By July 18th 2000 (which is pre-Bush) the East Moline, Illinois plant was schedule to close!!

http://www.norwegianity.com [Norwegianity.com] Norwegianity: Then again, my blog isn’t backed up (complicated story rendered more complicated by my sloth). And, as it turns out RJ has been able to trick his posts out of their database anyhow…strongly suggesting there was no database meltdown, just someone fucking with it and screwing it up.
