THE GENUINE TIPPING POINT
[The Light Of Reason] He is heavily committed to that approach, just as Bush is heavily committed to not withdrawing U.S. forces. The upshot is the tipping point—a point that has been reached whereby, first, Iraq is likely to abandon its efforts to establish democracy and instead plunge into civil war, and, second, public opinion in America will become starkly at odds with the policies of the Bush administration.
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[Chrenkoff] You want the truth? You can't handle the truth: Our best and brightest creators don't seem to realize that throughout history people who changed the world were driven not by a sense of loss, and often not by self-interest (such as greed or lust for power), but out of commitment to abstract ideas: liberty, equality, brotherhood, or love of one's nation or ethnic group. Maybe it's because of the bed-hopping nature of the entertainment industry, maybe it's because of its obsession with therapy and pop psychology, maybe it's a distillation of soft leftyism (remember, Iraq was all about oil, or in a movie cliche way, about avenging the 1993 assassination attempt on Bush Sr.).
[Julien's List] The Real First Lady: Clinton has sought opportunities in recent months to stake claims to the political center, emphasizing nuances on abortion and immigration that may appeal to some Republicans and conservatives, her speech today was a starkly partisan rallying cry to her troops at a time when at least four New York Republicans are preparing to challenge her in 2006. She did, however, have some kind words for some past Republican presidents - Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George H.W.
[Digbysblog.blogspot.com] Hullabaloo: The overarching evils of vast inequality and the transcendent good of do-it-yourself mobility are such foundational philosophical tenets of America's two parties that I can't see either coming to recognize that the fix, such as one exists, might be the same for both. Indeed, while the Democratic party may be convincible simply because the solutions line up with our proposed programs, Republicans will, for good reason, never relinquish the strict dichotomy they've created between individual mobility and general equality.
[Retrovsmetro.org] Retro vs. Metro : Blog : Nov 16, 2004 - Nov 08, 2004: Nov 15, 2004 As I mentioned in a previous blog, Votergate is in the midst of producing a 90-minute film exposing the flaws and potential for fraud in black box voting machines. Last week they released a 30-minute sneak peek that you can view free online.
[Learningfountain.com] Weblog Entry - 11/06/2004: "Binding America, Binding the Globe": He does not know the meaning of the word "cooperation." For this reason, Democrats must fight him every step of the way - not merely to be obstructinists, but to teach the public the difference between the vision of Republicans and the vision of Democrats: Republicans are dividing America; Democrats want to bind America.
[Acsblog.org] ACSBlog: The Blog of the American Constitution Society: Two ...: That said, what this really comes down to is whether or not Bush is looking to shake up the Court, or put someone on who can maybe convince the more moderate Justices. The one positive thing that can be said about Rehnquist is that he is a very effective administrator, and even if his decisions are atrocious, he is well respected as a fine manager of the many, many employees of the Supreme Court, and he is capable of managing a meeting in chambers of a heavily divided Court.
[Gseis.ucla.edu] Blog Left: Critical Interventions Warblog (war blog, Iraq ...: This report, greatly reduced, depicts starkly the awful truth about how the bushies .From the Toronto Star : Today, to guard against a repeat, Bush team .
