Iraq Reviews > Karl Rove Should Resign
[Chuck Currie] the issue that you raised, which only works for your purposes when taken OUT OF CONTEXT, is the statement of Karl Rove. And, since you can not honestly quote the context of what he did say in this instance, here it is in context.

[Julien's List] DSM - and so much more...: I would go back to the presidents statements over the last several years and I would defy you to find one speech which he talked about Iraq where he doesnt say there would be difficult times ahead, that we had a long road to hope that a great deal of sacrifice was going to be called for by both the American people and by the Iraqis to achieve this goal. Look, we do not underestimate the ferocity and the anger and the viciousness of the people that we face.
[ThatColoredFellasweblog.bloghorn.com] Karl Rove Rallies The Conservative Confederacy: TCF will personally vouch, having experienced the sea change towards the same hateful rhetoric expressed by Karl Rove, that the Right has now reached Desperation Def Con 4! Ive spent just about enough time in futility telling Right bloggers that assailing the Lefts patriotism will only injure whats left of the ”last throes of their credibility.
[Thomas Paine's Corner] CAPITOL KABUKI: To provide a bit of context for this hearing, it should be noted that it came three days after Vice President Cheney told us the Iraqi insurgency was “in its last throes”, two days after Senate Assistant Democratic Leader Dick Durban took the senate floor to apologize for invoking the ”Nazi, Stalin, Pol Pot analogy to describe the Bush Administration, a day after Bushs ”architect, Karl Rove, accused liberals of searching for therapists to help us understand the 9/11 hijackers, and on the same day as a leaked CIA report warned that Iraq is turning into an even more effective training ground for terrorists than Taliban-ruled Afghanistan.
[ BetterDonkey.org -] Bush's Brain Bunts a Fuck You to Liberals: If you're sitting on your ass and doing nothing I think you are just shy of being as fucked up as the administration you purport to hate because your lack of action allows this flood of global misery to rise.
[Americablog.blogspot.com] AMERICAblog: Because a great nation deserves the truth: That said, to give such emphasis to 100 seconds of a 3 hour and five minute hearing that included the powerful and sad testimony (hardly mentioned by Milbank) of a woman who lost her son in the Iraq war and now feels lied to as a result of the Downing Street Minutes, is incredibly misleading. Many, many different pamphlets were being passed out at the overflow room, including pamphlets about getting out of the Iraq war and anti-Central American Free Trade Agreement, and it is puzzling why Milbank saw fit to only mention the one he did.
[Hughhewitt.com] HughHewitt.com: "Thank you so much for staying on this topic of Senator Durbin's comments about treatment of our prisoners. My 22 year old son is currently serving in Iraq with his Army Reserve unit and I feel very strongly that such comments put him, and others, at risk. My son also served for one year on a firebase in Afghanistan in 03-04. He saw first-hand how our detainees are treated. They were and are treated in the most humane way possible. The term "humane" says it all to me. Torture dehumanizes someone. So does sending a young person off to blow themselves up. We treat our prisoners in a humane fashion so as NOT to dehumanize them. While in Afghanistan my son returned from a mission late, around one in the morning. The fellow he was with was a special forces soldier. He told my son to head off to his bunk, but he had one more job to do. A detainee that he was currently interrogating had to have his special 3:00 a.m. meal served to him because it was Ramadan. This soldier, tried and very cold though he was, went off to prepare and serve this meal to this man. My son never saw one instance of mistreatment of any prisoner for the almost one year he served there, even though it was very "far from the flagpole." Keep talking about Senator Durbin and his cohorts in the Senate. Keep on this like a terrier with a rat. I am so mad I could blow out an artery about now, but I am just going to go for a walk in the rain and pray for my son and our other brave troops in harms way."
[Washingtonpost.com] White House Briefing News on President George W Bush and the ...: Dan Balz writes in The Washington Post: "Democrats accused Rove, President Bush's top political strategist, of impugning their patriotism, misrepresenting the support they gave Bush after terrorists hit the United States and demeaning the memories of victims. Republicans accused Democrats of overreacting to what they said were accurate characterizations of reactions among some liberals and of having defended slanderous statements against the U.S. military.
[Littlegreenfootballs.com] lgf: germans at the alamo: No serious allegation of torture at the camp has been substantiated, and in the al-Qaida training manual found in Manchester, England, a couple of years back Rule 18 couldn’t be more explicit: When held captive by the infidel, members must “complain to the court of mistreatment while in prison” and say that “torture was inflicted on them.”
[Warincontext.org] THE WAR IN CONTEXT:: Iraq, the War on Terrorism, and the Middle ...: Allegations of widespread corruption have dogged the Iraqi government since the invasion in 2003, when billions of dollars for reconstruction and training began pouring into the country. Many programs had far less impact than expected, but persistent rumors that money was being siphoned by corrupt officials were largely impossible to pin down.
