Iraq Reviews > Endorsements: John Tasini for New York Senate.
[eternalhope.blog-city.com] « H » email linkToday, we are endorsing John Tasini for New York Senate to oppose Hillary Clinton in the Senate primary. Clinton has been a staunch and consistent supporter of the War in Iraq along with voting for the Patriot Act twice, an act that is a major threat to our Constitution and to who we are as Americans.

eternalhope.blog-city.com: But refusing to stand up and speak out against the hatred of David Horowitz, Tom Tancredo, or the Minutemen and their neo-Nazi allies is the same tired old politics as usual that lost us the election in 2004. In addition, nobody calling for less immigration will be credible unless they also examine the role of NAFTA and other such free trade agreements in sharply increasing the numbers of immigrants coming to this country. Latest News | The Huffington Post: liberals/progressives to say they are against the war--and, then, write checks or express support for pro-war Democrats like Hillary Clinton. So, that's one reason I decided to release, with the wonderful help of Eric Blumrich, an in-your-face campaign ad. (via Cosmos)
The Working Families Party Man / Ushering In The New Era of Enlightenment: Jennifer Murzack of the Louisana Secretary of State's office, which sets up local elections, refused to comment in a phone interview on the issue of FEMA lists, saying that this is a matter between FEMA and Senator Fields. Murzack says that the secretary of state has done everything in its power to help those displaced by last fall's storms vote, including setting up satellite voting centers in ten Louisiana parishes. [New York Liberal] Jonathan Tasini Releases Online Movie on Iraq... : Hillary Clinton seems to believe that her vote in favor of starting the Iraq War, giving President Bush carte blanche to invade and occupy Iraq, should not bother Democrats. Jonathan Tasini is asking New York State Democrats to examine their consciences, and ask themselves if they’re willing to accept that.
The Daily Gotham | grassroots news and activism for new yorkers: Witness these comments, culled at random from the Tasini site and Free Republic. I will vote for any candidate who finally ends this war against peaceful Muslims, including those in al Qaeda and Hamas and Islamic Jihad. (via Cosmos)
[New York Liberal] Second Right Wing Democrat Joins Senate Race: Frequent readers of New York Liberal know that we make no bones about our opposition to Hillary Clinton’s re-election to the United States Senate in 2006. In spite of her carefully cultivated image, Hillary Clinton is anything but a liberal Democrat.
[The Daily Gotham | grassroots news and activism for new yorkers] Hillary rolls on: During the Clinton Presidency, she served as a very convenient lightning rod for the extreme right, more attractive for this purpose, at least for a while, than her likable husband. This demographic, smallish but very loud, continues to despise her, and avidly reads whatever it is that Dick Morris fabulates at a given moment.
[The Working Families Party Man / Ushering In The New Era of Enlightenment] Third Anniversary of Pax Americana's Invasion of... : Yes, there will be hundreds of protests and actions throughout the country today. As the banner on the United For Peace and Justice homepage says it is "Three Years Too Many".
[The Daily Gotham | grassroots news and activism for new yorkers] Politics as therapy: In my mind, politics is at heart the art of assembling an electoral majority to enact the goals that stem from a wider Weltanschauung. Presently, we do not have such a legislative majority, either in New York or in Washington, so we stand on the sidelines as the most radical and arguably the most incompetent regime in American history drives the nation against a wall.
[Palousitics] "Democrats Shilling for Wal-Mart": More recently, I've suggested in these pages that Hillary Clinton needs to explain what she did--or did not do--during her six-year service on Wal-Mart's board. At the time, she sat on the board, the company was rabidly anti-union, was exploiting sweatshop labor around the world, discriminating against women workers, forcing workers to labor off the clock and destroying small businesses in communities around the country.
[The Daily Gotham | grassroots news and activism for new yorkers] The Challenger's Dilemma: The questions you raise are super, but I think you may have been too quick to categorize Tasini as one of "those that cater strictly to the party's Progressive wing." Concerns about the war cross party lines and "left/right" categories-- take Zogby's recent poll of active-duty military people, for instance. Or the fiscal conservatives of both parties who are horrified about the out-of-control spending on the war, with little fruit other than new ground for terrorist recruitment and so many lives lost...
[Left Handed Compliment] Democrat.com Event!: I like Hillary Clinton, I really do, however I think her postition on the war is completely and utterly wrong. While I think her primary challenger has a snow ball's in hell chance to beat her, I feel someone challenging her on this issue is good for the party.
[Irregular Times: News Unfit for Print] Permanent Link to Pro-War Democrats in Senate... : In California, Senator Diane Feinstein’s history of support for the Iraq War has brought a huge number of potential anti-war challengers out of the woodwork, including Cindy Sheehan of the Gold Star Families for Peace, Mervin Evans and John Trip among the Democrats, Todd Chretien, Tian Harter and Kent Mesplay from the Green Party, and Marsha Feinland from the Peace and Freedom Party.
[The Working Families Party Man / Ushering In The New Era of Enlightenment] Jonathan Tasini in Yonkers Feb 15th: The Shame of the Nation by Jonathan Kozol is a must read for anyprogressive that wants to learn about the new segregation that is going on in public schools in cities like NYC. Also shocking is a new form of indoctrination in these poor segregated schools called the Skinnerian method.
[New York Liberal] Ithacan endorses Jonathan Tasini for Senate: I’m a real New York liberal, and I know from several years of watching that Hillary Clinton has not done much to promote the traditional liberal values of America while she’s been in the United States Senate. She’s more like right wing Democrat Joseph Lieberman than she is like Barbara Boxer, one of the genuine liberals of the Senate.
[Takeback24.blogspot.com] Take Back New York's 24th: New York State Democrats in the House of Representatives like Brian Higgins and Carolyn McCarthy just recently voted to extend extraordinary powers for President Bush to spy against Americans - in spite of the recent proof in the form of revelations of multiple programs initiated by the Bush Administration, outside of the NSA warrantless wiretapping program, to send government spies to keep watch on law-abiding American citizens for no reason other than that they disagree with the policies of the President.
[Workinglife.typepad.com] Daily Blog: The War: Murtha, a 73-year-old Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam combat, lashed back at Vice President Dick Cheney, who in a speech to a conservative group on Wednesday night condemned critics of the Iraq war. "The president and I cannot prevent certain politicians from losing their memory, or their backbone, but we're not going to sit by and let them rewrite history,"
[Huffingtonpost.com] The Blog | Jonathan Tasini: Why I'm Running Against Hillary | The ...: My positions, available on my website, offer a mirror opposite. I am a candidate who opposes the war, believes that real homeland security means bringing the troops home immediately, opposes anti-worker trade deals that send jobs abroad, believes that our economic future should not be determined by an authoritarian regime in China, and supports Medicare For All.
