[Creative-i] That Iraq is in flagrant breach of international legal obligations imposed on it by the UNSC provides us with the core of a strategy, and one which is based on international law. Indeed, if the argument is to be won, the whole case against Iraq and in favour (if necessary) of military action, needs to be narrated with reference to the international rule of law.

[Scholars and Rogues] Scholars and Rogues » Stout Denial!: This complaint was made by members of the Foreign Office as well, but more against the US than against the Foreign ministry””-that the British government was not allowed to prepare for a military occupation, again because the Blair and Bush governments did not want anyone to know they were actually preparing for war. A number of foreign office and military leaders testified directly that thre was entirely too much reliance on the US government for leadership in this area””-we now know that the US government was being pretty delusional in 2002 and 2003.

[The Mustard Seed] Recent Article: U.S. Media Bias Toward Israel « The Mustard Seed: Even though the U.S. media offered very biased coverage during the Gaza conflict, Hart states, “If you read the media content you would get a false impression of U.S. public opinion, which is more nuanced than the media lets on and has more questions than the media is willing to ask.”

[Raw Story] Pentagon officials won't confirm Bush propaganda program ended ...: Merritt, in an email interview, first replied, “[A]t the present time, we don’t have regularly scheduled conference calls with retired military analysts” but that “we would not, however, preclude responding to queries for information from or provide future opportunities for them to talk to defense leaders and program managers.”

[Scorecard's Blog] Poll: Brown 48, Coakley 45 - The Scorecard - POLITICO.com: This would be comical if it wasn't so tragic-American have the intellect of an ash can as in "burnt out"-lets just give it all back to the republicans and watch our economic situation deteriate even more- in fact since the republicans represent the corporation why not just turn the whole country over to the big companies-I am amazed at the responses I am reading here-Do ANY OF YOU FOLKS ACTUALLY READ -oh I guesss not thats why palin is your hero-a nation that is truly dumb downed lets go back to the policies that failed us--rah rah rah-what a joje the only thing worse than the republican party is the people who fail to eamine an ideoly degined to support corporations--absolutely unbelievable that peopel are incapable of learning from past experience!!!

[John C. Wright] johncwright: A Speculation on the Goals and Strategy of the Foe: He squandered our initial successes in Iraq and Afghanistan by dialing back those campaigns instead of carrying them out to unconditional surrender of the jihadists. Once Al Qaeda and their allies sensed this lack of will, they exploited it and bogged us down in a grind of hit-and-run insurgency against our soldiers and terrorism against civilians.

[Cafferty File] Cafferty File: Tell Jack how you really feel Blog Archive - Should ...: The ultimate handiwork is in the 2,000 pages we call the House Health Care Reform Bill We can also cite TARP, the Stimulus bill, the changes in the bankruptcy laws which favor the banks, no mortgages can be modified in bankruptcy (again because of the bank) and our favorite the deregulation of the banking industry which led to our current economic disaster.

[ShortsandPants] In Which Ron Paul Falls From Grace - ShortsandPants: Oh, great, denounce flagrant racism and seething anger–good one Ron.  Why are you talking to Rachel Maddow in the first place?  She loves big government, hates our troops, supports 9/11, and has personally performed like 40 abortions.  Oh, and she’s a frigging queer and probably wants to get married or some crap.

[Flopping Aces] Is America at war, or not?: Whereas the United States is determined to prosecute the war on terrorism and Iraq’s ongoing support for international terrorist groups combined with its development of weapons of mass destruction in direct violation of its obligations under the 1991 cease-fire and other United Nations Security Council resolutions make clear that it is in the national security interests of the United States and in furtherance of the war on terrorism that all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions be enforced, including through the use of force if necessary;

[TomDispatch - Blog] Tomgram: Robert Dreyfuss on the "D" Word in Iraq | TomDispatch: Since last fall, the number of those killed by Shiite death squads has surpassed those killed by the Baathist-led resistance and by the terrorists linked to Al Qaeda's suicide bombers -- as good a marker as any with which to pinpoint the moment when Iraq passed from one stage of political existences to another: Iraq has now gone from a country with a shaky, U.S.-backed regime fighting a resistance movement to a country in which sectarian killings and ethnic cleansing predominates.

[CNN Political Ticker] CNN Political Ticker: All politics, all the time Blog Archive ...: I understand the need to have everyone in the pool to keep the rates down and the risk spread out, but I have a son who was laid off from a full time job, has gone back to school, and is working part time, with no insurance coverage at all. How is he, and so many others in his income range, going to be able to afford the obscene monthly premiums for decent health care?

MacDailyNews: It says something about a (thankfully) small minority of Americans that they had no problem spending $1 trillion on an illegal war in a country half a world away, but begrudge adding even nominally to the $100 million (representing 0.01%) to help a country in the US' backyard that is the victim of the capriciousness of the planet.

[Cafferty File] Cafferty File: Tell Jack how you really feel Blog Archive - Could ...: I think that the shootings could probably have been prevented if anyone in the military chain of command had been pro-active in dealing directly with Hassan based solely on his performance. Too many times, people who are not doing their jobs well are allowed to continue because their superiors don't want to do the work that it would take to make that non-performing person accountable and either make them improve or fire them.

[Jack & Jill Politics] Thursday Open Thread - Jack & Jill Politics: Contrast this record with Obama's rhetoric from the beginning of his campaign, when he attacked "the lobbyists and the special interests who've turned our government into a game only they can afford to play." This talk, and the ad attacking Tauzin, didn't scare off the industry, which proceeded to give more to Obama's campaign than to any other politician in history. And clearly, the rhetoric hasn't made Tauzin feel unwelcome at the Obama White House.
