[America's Right] America's Right: Obama in Iraq: His language with regard to Iraq and Afghanistan, save for the obvious difference between the "Global War on Terror" and an "Overseas Contingency Operation," largely smacks of language used by his much maligned predecessor. Today's statement that troop withdrawal depends upon Iraq's ability to take care of itself, for example, is a longshot from the inflammatory talk of precipitous withdrawal posed by Obama during his presidential campaign in 2007 and 2008, and is instead very similar to language used by both Obama's rival in the campaign, Arizona Sen.
[PeakDemsBlog] PeakDemsBlog: Colorado pols feeling the heat on Iraq: "As Congress prepares to vote again on this issue, once in July when we consider the 2008 Defense Appropriations bill, and again in September on the 2008 Iraq Supplemental bill, I look forward to working on behalf of the American people who want to see real progress made in the Iraq war. I will continue to hold the Iraqi government and the President accountable, and move our country in a new direction."
[All Our Might] All Our Might » Blog Archive » Truman Series: Leaving Iraq: After the tremendous progress we have made in Iraq over the past two years, it would be foolhardy to pull out nearly all of our troops precipitously and put that progress at risk. Iraqi security forces remain a work in progress, and need our support”both for training and to assist them in difficult combat missions.

He said a move to the continental United States would "dramatically increase" the current facility's staff.
[The Cuyahoga Rough Writers Blog] Obama Administration Cuts $8 Billion From Our Troops: This budget will allow American capabilities to stagnate and our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and guardsmen to continue to use old and out of date equipment like the 1950s era KC-135 aerial refueling tanker and B-52 bomber. We are especially concerned about the $1.4 billion cut in missile defense spending, which equals 15 percent of the U.S. Missile Defense Agencys budget.
[Liberal Democrat Voice] Clegg “soars” in Iraq debate » Liberal Democrat Voice: Is not the true scandal today, as we look back at that fateful decision to send our troops into battle in Iraq, the single worst foreign policy decision in the past 50 years, that not one of the men and women on the Government Benches and on the Conservative Benches will apologise for what they did? Is it not time for the Government and the Conservatives to hold up their hands and say sorry to the British people for Iraq?

[LINCOLN'S Blog] The WAR is OVER! - LINCOLN'S Blog: November 5th, 2008, by Richard Okelberry - With a sweeping victory yesterday in the nation presidential election one thing should be certain, the troops are coming home. Of all the promises made by Obama during the campaign, it was his stand against the War in Iraq that ultimately gave him victory over Hillary Clinton and paved the way to defeating a weak Republican candidate. Now that all the speeches are given and all the votes have been cast, those who have long opposed the War in Iraq can finally claim victory and expect with full confidence that Obama on the day following his inauguration in January will issue an order to his military commanders to bring the troops home.
[Marisacat] Big day”¦ strange town « Marisacat: They were complaints about the pressure put on our servicemen and servicewomen by their superior officers to applaud Rick Warren, whose book The Purpose-Driven Life is second only to the Bible itself as the most promoted religious book by the U.S. military, currently being incorporated into everything from pre- and post-deployment family programs to suicide prevention.
