Clowns to the Left; Jokers to the Right
[the crossfader] It will be interesting to see how the U.S. media plays up the discovery that Iraqi insurgents are torturing Iraqis. Interesting because of the administration stance on its refusal to shut down Gitmo because of allegations of mistreatment.
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[The Boiling Point] Deranged and Deeply Disturbing: The "atrocities" he enumerated -- "Not only was the temperature unbearably hot, but extremely loud rap music was being played in the room" -- are not characteristic of the Nazis, the Soviets or Pol Pot, and, at the end, the body count in Gitmo was a lot lower. That's to say, it was zero, which would have been counted a poor day's work in Auschwitz or Siberia or the killing fields of Cambodia.
[The American Street] Seeking Higher Ground: By an outrageous noncoincidence, U.S. Marines in Iraq recently found four Iraqis who had been tortured by the insurgents. The righties seized this report and promptly began an orgy of moral territorial marking around it.
[Midwest Conservative Journal] REALITY CHECK: The "atrocities" he enumerated -- "Not only was the temperature unbearably hot, but extremely loud rap music was being played in the room" -- are not characteristic of the Nazis, the Soviets or Pol Pot, and, at the end, the body count in Gitmo was a lot lower. Thats to say, it was zero, which would have been counted a poor days work in Auschwitz or Siberia or the killing fields of Cambodia.
[The Discerning Texan] Steyn gives Durbin Both Barrels: The "atrocities" he enumerated -- "Not only was the temperature unbearably hot, but extremely loud rap music was being played in the room" -- are not characteristic of the Nazis, the Soviets or Pol Pot, and, at the end, the body count in Gitmo was a lot lower. That's to say, it was zero, which would have been counted a poor day's work in Auschwitz or Siberia or the killing fields of Cambodia.
[Powerlineblog.com] Power Line: If American Jews had a fix on who their friends are, I doubt that 70 percent of them would continue to constitute themselves among the core of the Democratic Party. One would think that the presence of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Cynthia McKinney, John Conyers, Jimmy Carter and their ilk among the honored members of the party, or Michael Moore as the party's intellectual lodestar, would prompt some serious second thoughts.
[Ancapistan.typepad.com] UnFairWitness: Leaked Letter: FBI witnessed Gitmo torture: US Navy Seals Torturing Iraqis ... Andrew Sullivan; Antiwar.com Blog; ArkhAngel; Aron's Israel Peace Weblog; Attytood (Will Bunch); BEYOND NORTHERN IRAQ ...
[Redstate.org] RedState.org ||: Perhaps to some degree Gitmo is the left's Branch Davidian incident -- an out of control government tortures and kills a group of innocents, only that's not what happened.
[Annotatedtimes.blogrunner.com] blogrunner: The New York Times - United States Armament And ...: That's the kind of future we may face unless we atone for the sins of Gitmo."I think that stands on its own. No further comment necessary.
