[ReidBlog] Could the purported letter from al-Qaida number two Ayman al-Zawahiri to America's Iraq nemesis Abu Musab al-Zarqawi be just another example of fake news? (sigh) maybe so...

Cronacahttp://www.cronaca.com  Cronaca: That being the case, I'd think extreme care would be taken with any secrets publicly released -- which leaves me with severe doubts about the competence of those behind the recent release of the so-called letter from al-Zawahiri to al-Zarqawi (English translation pdf here). A Journey To The End Of Timehttp://godofdust.blogspot.com  A Journey To The End Of Time: And...surprise surprise, reports are already coming in that the Al Qa'ida letter is a fake. Unfortunately, the we cannot confirm the "denial" as well, since there's no way to actually go up to the bearded bastard, shove the letter in his face and threaten to blow his head off if he doesnt tell the truth (although, considering the American approach, they might want to drop off a biological weapon on his ass first). The Blue State Conservatives: Today the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a letter between two senior al Qa'ida leaders, Ayman al-Zawahiri and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, that was obtained during counterterrorism operations in Iraq. This lengthy document provides a comprehensive view of al Qa'ida's strategy in Iraq and globally. (via Cosmos)

http://ravensview.blogspot.com  Raven's View: He said he was thanking them, but most of what he had to say was meant for ears on this side of the world: "We're facing an enemy that is ruthless and cold-blooded, an enemy that actually has a philosophy, and the philosophy is so opposite of ours," he said. I am fairly confident our soldiers on the front lines know exactly how ruthless and coldblooded the enemy is. (via Cosmos)

http://crymeariverii.blogspot.com  Cry Me A Riverbend II: Praise and blessings be upon the Messenger of God, his family, his Companions, and all who follow him It is traditional for extremist Islamists like Zawahiri or Faiza Jarrar to offer gratuitous praise to a lot of people who have been dead for 1300 years. He also offers praise at this time for maniacs like Zarqawi who bring the good news message of the butcher knife to the hapless Iraqis, idolatrous infidel NGO workers, and anyone doing anything to improve living standards in Iraq. http://glaivester.blogspot.com  Glaivester: Another objection to the authenticity of the letter is raised here, namely that in one passage Zawahiri seems to be referring to Zarqawi as a third person rather than as the recipient of the letter, but it does not seem to amount to anything to me. At most it would suggest that the intelligence community has misinterpreted to whom the letter was addressed but it too stubborn to admit it, or that Zawahiri made a mistake when writing or dictating the letter, or that someone made a mistake during some transcription step. Back-to-iraq.comhttp://www.back-to-iraq.com [Back-to-iraq.com] Back to Iraq 3.0: April 2003 Archives: NEW YORK -- After a week back, I've managed to get some sleep in, say "hey" to a few friends, put up some picture pages (part one and part two) and try to take stock of the aftermath of this war. This is difficult, however, as the urban environment of New York City is so alien to the experiences of the past month that it might as well be a different planet.

Blogforamerica.com[Blogforamerica.com] Blog for America: (As one of my volunteers dryly observed of the forms, "These guys have been doing this for a while.") The hardest part of the work was not outrunning the rain (although that was a challenge), but getting slammed by some folks' absolute conviction that nothing they could do could ever truly matter. "Register to vote?" we called out.
