[Associated Press News - Salon.com] The figure includes eight military civilians killed in action. At least 3,406 military personnel died as a result of hostile action, according to the military's numbers.

In a Time magazine story on this issue, one headline read "New reports of detainee abuse at Gitmo suggest interrogators used female sexuality as a weapon." This was in reference to some of the female prison guards dressing up in sexualized clothing to "tempt" the prisoners, but when male prison guards stacked men up naked why did that not elicit gendered and sexualized reporting?

ABC cuts back in Iraq, relies more on BBC
[Hollywood Reporter] The Baghdad bureaus have cost ABC and the other broadcast networks and cable news channels phenomenal amounts of money to keep open since the war began in 2003, millions of dollars per year with seemingly no end in sight. That includes not only keeping at least one correspondent and producing team there for much of that time per network but also the support staff and the heavy security that is required for operating in-country.
