News from Centcom: What extremists say
[Marathon Pundit] Meanwhile, Canisius College deems nothing more dangerous to campus safety than the creation of a simple memorial commemorating Americans killed on 9/11. Annually, on the anniversary of the attacks, Young America's Foundations students commemorate the victims by participating in the Foundations "9/11: Never Forget Project." When the College Republicans of Canisius College asked the college administration whether the group could place 3,000 small American flags on the quad as part of this effort, a college official nixed the idea, claiming that it would damage the colleges expensive sprinkler system”apparently these pointy-headed educationists never heard of the benefits of aerating soil.

Andrea Batista Schlesinger: I've got a surprise visit for ya.
[The Huffington Post] I am sick of these surprise visits. President Bush "surprised" the troops on Thanksgiving and "surprised" Hamid Karzai in Afghanistan.

Mickey makes an unannounced trip to Disneyland
[OK Now] Well the same goes for any major official, including Bush and Blair. Ever since those missiles damn near missed old Wolfowitz' hotel room, these guys have to sneak into town under cover of darkness and slip out the backdoor after the photo op.

Egypt Ignores Islamic Threat The Gets Hit With Terrorism Tragedy
[ Voteswagon] Egypt thought they could not address the radical Islamic movement growing in their country but their fatal mistake cost tens to hundreds of innocent lives and shame on the Arab community for tolerating this kind of action in any form. Arab communities try to walk the thin line of crying that they are being oppressed and stereotyped well also not speaking out in regards to the terrorism they are being grouped in with.

Coup and counter-coup: The struggle for Iraq
[Israpundit] The speculation is that Allawi will use the armed forces to seize power and topple the stubborn Jaafari, who insists on staying in power (he was premier in the previous administration) although he has lost support of everybody around him, including the Americans, the British, the Sunnis, the Kurds, the seculars and some of the Shi’ites in his own United Iraqi Alliance (UIA). His only remaining supporters are the Da’wa Party, which he heads, and the rebel-cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.

Todays Quotes: Yes, But Your Decisions Are Always Wrong
[Grouchys Liberaltopia] “Reflecting on that time, The American Heritage Dictionary (Houghton Mifflin Company, 1983) left us this definition of the form of government the German democracy had become through Hitler’s close alliance with the largest German corporations and his policy of using war as a tool to keep power: ‘fas-cism (fbsh’iz’em) n. A system of government that exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through the merging of state and business leadership, together with belligerent nationalism.’”

[Yellow Pages] "Human Rights Watch urges the United States to name a special prosecutor to investigate the culpability of Rumsfeld and others in the al-Qahtani case. The ”Ruthless Little Bastard Who Wont Go Away
[Grouchys Liberaltopia] Before, I was concerned that even if he were impeached, Bush might claim some illegal loophole to stay president, as he’s done with warrantless eavesdropping, torture and detaining U.S. citizens without due process. He would then, as commander-in-chief, order the U.S. military to keep him in office, making our government a military junta.

Yep Rummy is managing the SNAFU just fine.
[ok,Ok, OK ALREADY] Yeah but if Rummy was doing as good as GW says he was, this would NOT occur. A large Iraqi police convoy was ambushed Thursday night by insurgents just north of Baghdad after being refused permission to stay overnight on an American military base, an Iraqi police commander said today.

Why Not Say It In Early 2003?
[IntoxiNation] On Monday, former Secretary of State Colin Powell told me that he and his department’s top experts never believed that Iraq posed an imminent nuclear threat, but that the president followed the misleading advice of Vice President Dick Cheney and the CIA in making the claim. Now he tells us.

The Coming War with Iran
[Grouchys Liberaltopia] Although the tide is changing, one of the enduring problems with getting Americans to wake up and see the Bush Administration for who they really are ” global corporatists and religious theocrats trying to create an empire and using sophisticated media manipulation, fearmongering, and patriotic flag-waving to accomplish their goal ” is the insistence by many that Bush just couldnt be that bad. Ive heard it expressed as “Hes too dumb to be that dangerous,” ignoring the death and destruction in Iraq, and “The Congress will stop him,” an innocence projected from a different time in U.S. history when we didnt have one party and one ideology running the government.
